Airbrush Holder and Cleaning Pot: Is This $15 Amazon Find Worth It?

Updated: 3 days ago

If you airbrush at a small workbench with limited space, this one is for you.

I recently picked up a combined airbrush holder and cleaning pot from Amazon for $15. Not a sponsored post, not a gifted product. I needed a solution, found this, bought it, and tested it. Here is what I found, plus my 7 tips for keeping your airbrush in good working order.

The Problem I Was Trying to Solve

I have always struggled to find a proper place for my airbrush on my workbench. Space is limited in my studio, which meant I never had a dedicated holder installed. The airbrush would end up sitting wherever there was room, which is not ideal when you are mid-session and need to set it down quickly.

The obvious solution was a cleaning pot that doubled as a holder. Kill two birds with one stone. The problem was that the options I found in the market were not convincing. Most use a rounded jar shape with a curved bottom, which makes them prone to tilting. Knowing myself, I knew that was going to end in a mess at some point. I was ready to give up when I came across this product.

Same concept as the others, but with one key difference: the jar shape.

What Is in the Box

The package includes:

  • A top cap

  • An eye dropper

  • A set of filters

  • A thick glass jar with a lid

  • An airbrush holder attachment

The concept is straightforward. The jar has a side hole where you insert the airbrush nozzle to spray paint residue safely into the container. On top, there is a vent hole for the filter and a cavity to plug in the holder, so your airbrush stands upright when not in use.

What Makes This One Different

The jar is made from thick glass with a more angular, flat-cornered shape at the bottom compared to most competing products. The whole unit, without the cap, weighs approximately 1 pound, close to half a kilogram.

That weight and that angular base are the two reasons I chose this over the alternatives. It does not tilt when you bump it with a hand or an arm. It sits flat and stays flat. For anyone working at a busy or compact bench, that stability matters.

At $15, the combination of shape, weight, and build quality makes this a genuinely good option for the price.

My 7 Tips for Airbrush Maintenance

A good holder and cleaning pot is only part of the equation. Here is how I keep my airbrush in proper working order.

1.  Use an airbrush cleaning pot. Especially if you do not have a sink near your workstation. It keeps the cleanup process contained, fast, and clean.

2.  Avoid harsh solvents. They can damage internal components over time. Stick to products designed for airbrush cleaning.

3.  Use water for water-based paints. When working with acrylics, water is all you need for cleaning. No need to reach for stronger products.

4.  Never use metal brushes on internal parts. Metal bristles scratch the delicate interior surfaces of the airbrush. Use soft cleaning brushes or pipe cleaners designed for this purpose.

5.  Do not dilute paints with Windex or alcohol-based products. These can damage seals and internal parts. Use proper airbrush thinner or distilled water, depending on your paint type.

6.  Use a compressor with a water trap or tank. Water condensation in the air hose is a real problem, especially in humid environments. A water trap prevents moisture from mixing with your paint mid-session.

7.  Use a small tray when disassembling for cleaning. Airbrush parts are small and easy to lose. A dedicated tray keeps everything in one place while you work through the cleaning process.
